IT'S great to
read a familiar book where you know the
story well and it's become a firm favourite.
But I love it
even more, when you begin a book you've
never read before and each page grips you,
so much so that you can't put it down, and
you're desperate to know the outcome.
I've recently read a book just like this;
one that has really refreshed my whole
thinking about the nature of God. I have
been a Christian for more then 20 years now,
and in my foolishness thought I knew God
pretty well, but reading this book has given
me a fresh perspective.
It is strange how so often we think we
completely know about something because
we've experienced it before, and yet perhaps
we only experienced a really small part of
that thing and don't really know all there
is to know about it.
With regards to God, or perhaps it may be
more appropriate to say the Church, people
may have had a negative experience of it in
some way or maybe didn't feel it was for
them. And subsequently they never return. I
can't believe how much I still have to learn
about who God really is, after 20 years of
investigating. Sometimes we can be so
convinced that we know something, we fail to
see a hidden truth that's waiting to be
found. Can I encourage you today to take
another look at who God really is, and what
the Church is really all about, because
maybe just maybe you will be greatly
surprised at what you may discover or
rediscover. And the book, the book is called
The Shack.
Go read it, it's life changing!
