Of course
holidays and wonderful times are all too
quickly over and we must return to our
everyday lives and routines.
ln today's society many people seek
happiness in consumerism. They must have the
latest fashion or gadget, a new car or a
bigger house, but even when all these things
are purchased there is still no feeling of
satisfaction or contentment, and there is a
sense of emptiness and something missing in
their lives. Only Jesus can fill that
emptiness.
We live in a culture where only ''ME'' has
become important, ''because I'm worth it''.
But we need to forget our selfish ways and
begin to reach out to others with
understanding and care.
Jesus said - 'love your neighbour as you
love yourself' (Romans 13 v 9). Jesus loves
us no matter what fashions we wear, what
possessions we have, no matter how little
money we have or what holidays we take.
Jesus said, ''This is My commandment, that
you love one another as l have loved you"
(John 15 v12). If we can love others as He
loved us in reaching out to our communities
and living in peace with one another the
world will be a much better place.
