We
received
two
letters
recently
at the
Dewsbury
Minster.
Both
came
from
children
at
Junior
Schools,
asking
for our
answers
to some
of their
questions.
How did
God make
the
world?
was one
of them.
My
answer
began
with
what
they
already
know -
that the
world is
changing
even
now.
Parts of
the east
coast of
Yorkshire
are
being
washed
away by
the
sea.
Volcanoes
send
molten
lava
from
below
the
earth's
crust to
form a
new
layer on
the
land.
Earthquakes
occur in
many
places.
Some
changes
took
place
millions
of years
ago.
Coal was
created
when
Britain
was a
tropical
place.
Fossils
show
that
different
creatures
lived
and
died
out. We
don't
see
dinosaurs
in
Dewsbury
today.
So I can
say that
God made
a
changing
world
which
has
everything
that
living
creatures
need -
air,
water,
food.
But God
didn't
leave
the
world,
the
creatures
and us
and go
away. He
made the
world
for us
to use
and
enjoy.
He gave
us love.
He loves
us and
our
world
and we
can love
him.
Each
year at
this
time we
see
God's
love in
action.
His gift
of life
brings
trees
and
plants
to
respond
to the
warmth
of
spring.
It is a
good
time to
thank
God for
his
creation
and his
continuing
love.
