March 5

TIME is a very precious gift to give someone. We all lead busy lives.

Recently it was my husband's 77th birthday and each of our sons and their families gave him a gift of time.

One took a day off work to take us out to see beautiful, snowdrop covered woodlands, followed by lunch in an interesting bookshop, then took us back to his home for a lovely evening meal.

Another son and his wife invited us over for a meal the following day and the other son and his family organised a family party the following week.

Heartfelt generous gifts, each one of them.

We have all been given 24 hours each day by God.

We all need to sleep, work and eat, but how do you spend the time that is left?

Remember we can't get back the time we waste. If we use it wisely we can benefit others.

Perhaps by listening to their problems, giving them a cup of coffee or lunch, or helping in any way we can.

A phone call or a card can mean so much to someone who is battling sickness or is in trouble.

Showing you care for friends or neighbours by giving your time, in any way you can, is one of the best ways to live your 24 hours. Why don't we all try it?
